Renee is not only dedicated to doing the work, but learning to improve the process. Since 2019, Renee:
Worked with the county commission, school board, and other municipalities to keep Matthews at the forefront of regional decision-making processes.
Utilized resources such as the UNC School of Government to learn how and why things are done in order to find solutions specific to Matthews.
Negotiated with NCDOT on the inclusion of necessary infrastructure for Matthews along the Independence Blvd corridor.
Followed federal funding guidelines for ARPA funds and advocated for their appropriate use in preparing Matthews for future pandemics or disasters.
Was appointed to the 2023-24 NC League of Municipalities Legislative Policy Committee giving Matthews a voice in the development of statewide municipal legislative priorities.
