Renee is not only dedicated to doing the work, but learning to improve the process. Since 2019, Renee:

  • Worked with the county commission, school board, and other municipalities to keep Matthews at the forefront of regional decision-making processes.

  • Utilized resources such as the UNC School of Government to learn how and why things are done in order to find solutions specific to Matthews.

  • Negotiated with NCDOT on the inclusion of necessary infrastructure for Matthews along the Independence Blvd corridor.

  • Followed federal funding guidelines for ARPA funds and advocated for their appropriate use in preparing Matthews for future pandemics or disasters.

  • Was appointed to the 2023-24 NC League of Municipalities Legislative Policy Committee giving Matthews a voice in the development of statewide municipal legislative priorities.
