Tomato Tasting at the Farmers’ Market

Each week hundreds of people flow into the Matthews Community Farmers’ Market to enjoy the American Farmland Trust’s First Place Winner in NC for the 2022 America’s Farmers Market Celebration.

Yesterday the market was filled with even more excitement than usual as farmers entered the annual tomato tasting competition. For one hour visitors tasted dozens of tomato varieties and took notes on the flavors they enjoyed most. Four farms held the top three slots for both large and small tomatoes, including New Town, Street Fare, Terra Flora, and Clear Creek.
